Ezekiel, a Jewish author writing in Greek at some point in the last three centuries BCE, turned the Exodus story into a tragedy, the Exagoge. Only 269 of its lines have come down to us, and its techniques probably owe something to Euripides and Aeschylus. Ezekiel most likely lived in Alexandria or in another Hellenized city, where his education encompassed both the Bible and Greek literature.
