Statement

The chronicle credited to Solomon ben Samson tells of Rachel of Mainz, resolved to sacrifice her four children; the father, witnessing the scene after the Crusaders killed Rachel, threw himself on his own sword. The Hebrew accounts highlight the active, heroic role of women.
